Thai Massage and Yoga – The Art of Thai Yoga Massage

Most people are aware of the benefits of yoga and they may have considered the benefits of massage at some time in the past. The benefits of both of those practices come together very nicely in traditional Thai massage. In fact, traditional Thai massage has often been referred to as Thai yoga massage, simply because it puts you in many of the same positions but it does so without the work and effort that is involved in yoga.

The art of Thai yoga massage is nothing new. In fact, it is thought to date back more than 2500 years and was part of traditional Thai medicine during that time. As the Buddhist monks and nuns began to move to other areas from India, such as Thailand and Cambodia, the practice went with them. Although much of the practice remained in place, there were also enhancements that may have been added during that time which are still in use today.

Thai yoga massage therapy is a holistic approach to greater health and a more thorough sense of well-being. It is thought to affect the 10 channels of energy which are supposed to flow freely through the body according to traditional Thai medicine. When those energy channels are blocked or affected in any negative way, it can lead to a loss of mental clarity, loss of balance and disease.

Traditional Thai massage is something that can be of great benefit when you practice it regularly. It may help you to be healthier, may provide you with a greater sense of balance and allows you to experience the other benefits that this Thai medicine offers.
